Eisenhower junior Adelaide Loeser set personal-bests in every event she swam and qualified for the 4A state meet in three of four races at Saturday’s District 5 championships in Moses Lake.
Loeser won the 200 IM in a Valley-best 2:17.05 and then lowered another one of her Valley-bests to 1:00.96 to win the 100 fly, an event in which she finished 16th at state with a time of 1:04.39 last year. Finally, she ended the district meet by leading off for the 400 free relay team that finished second with a time of 4:00.95, nearly five seconds better than its previous Valley-best mark.
Adelaide’s twin sisters, Cora and Reed, also swam on that relay along with senior Emma Stephens, and Reed qualified for state in the 500 free with a winning time of 5:55.95. The freshman placed fourth in the 100 breaststroke and Cora just missed qualifying in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke, finishing third in both events.
Eisenhower’s 200 medley relay team comprised of the Loeser sisters and Richelle Garza also lowered their Valley-best to 1:58.92 and took third-place. They missed earning an automatic qualifier spot by a little more than a second but could still earn a wildcard allocation for the state meet, scheduled for Nov. 14-16 at King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.
